Brief Bio
Victor J. Sosa-Sosa is a full-time research-professor at Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico (CINVESTAV), campus Tamaulipas. He obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC-Barcelona)and was a visiting researcher in the Database and Information System group at Max Planck Institute für Informatik in Germany (Sep/12-Jul/13). He is a member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico. His work has been mainly focused on research activities, technological development and higher education in the areas of Distributed Information Systems, Databases and Web Technologies, with special interest in Cloud Computing and Big Data storage, processing and analysis. He has been leading projects funded by public and private institution and has published more than 25 articles in indexed journals and more than 50 papers in international conferences.

Brief Bio
Dr. Javier Garcia-Blas has been a teaching and research assistant at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain) since 2005. He received the MS degree in Computer Science in 2007 at the University Carlos III of Madrid. He also received a PhD with honors in Computer Science from at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2010. He has cooperated in several projects with researchers from various high performance research institutions including HLRS (founded by HPC-Europe program), DKRZ, and Argonne National Laboratory. His research fields include topics like parallel I/O, mobile cloud computing, energy efficient infrastructures, and accelerators for high-performance platforms such as Intel Xeon Phi and GPGPUs. He has participated and leaded several national and international research projects in these areas, founded by Madrid Regional Government, Spanish Education Ministry and the European union. He is currently involved in two European projects: the IC1305 COST Action “Network for Sustainable Ultrascale Computing Systems (NESUS)” and in the FP7 program REPARA “Reengineering and Enabling Performance And poweR of Applications”. He has participated actively in many conference organization committees, and in the last three years he has been Program Chair of EuroMPI 2013, C4Bio 2014, ESAA 2014, and CCGrid-Life 2015. He has participated as program committee member of 40 conferences and workshops. He counts with 42 research publications in international journals and conferences.

Brief Bio
Maricela Bravo is is a full-time researcher at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) located in Mexico City. In 2006 she obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the National Center of Research and Technological Development (CENIDET). During 2008 she was an Academic Visitor of the Systems Engineering Department of Oxford University in United Kingdom. Since 2008 she has the distinction to be a member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico. Her research interest include: Ontology Engineering, Ontologies for Context-aware systems, Semantic Web services, and Intelligent Agent Communities. She is currently responsible of the Academic Development Coordination of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at the Autonomous Metropolitan University.

Brief Bio
Ph.D. in Computer Science, 2009-2013, National Center of Research and Technology Development, CENIDET. Thesis "Ontology Learning from Spanish Newspapers: a linguistic approach". He received the MS degree in Computer Science in 2008 at National Center of Research and Technology Development, CENIDET. His research fields includes the following topics: ontology learning from text, knowledge representation, natural language processing and sentiment analysis.

SCOPE
The topics of interest for KDCloudApps 2017 are related with applications that incorpo-rate current advances of: natural language processing techniques for knowledge discovery, senti-ment analysis, opinion mining, social network analysis, news mining, semantic enrichment, semantic Web, cloud resource monitoring, cloud computing, ontologies to support knowledge discovery, reasoning on ontologies for knowledge discovery, service-oriented applications, ambient intelli-gence, pervasive systems and ubiquitous computing. The central themes of this conference incor-porate current innovations and advances in the areas of: artificial intelligence, natural language processing, soft computing, databases, information retrieval, social networks, distributed computing, Web engineering, among others.
